https://www.buymeacoffee.com/darrenpodcast Darren Clarkson is an expedition kayaker who resides mostly in the Himalayas. He has kayaked all the rivers from Everest and K2. His has set speed descent records and has a number of first descents to his name. Darren has paddled many isolated and committing rivers solo. This podcast will cover adventures in kayaks. From twenty years in the Himalayas to the North American triple crown. I expect I will also talk about kit. Guest interviews will also appear from time to time.

In this episode I discuss solo kayak, not in any major detail, I also talk about location beacons. This is not because I am affiliated to any of the brand's but because it may help. I will never say that solo is the only way, or the right way.

Loving the podcast Darren, It’s the first podcast I’ve listened to and I’m really enjoying it! Great to hear your views on kayaking, ideas and experiences. I’ve only started kayaking a few years ago in my middle age crisis but I’m really addicted to it. There’s no other feeling like paddling on a river and your knowledge and wisdom is very highly thought of. Don’t think I will pack a pair of tights and Pringle jumper but one day ya never know. Can’t wait to listen the the rest. All the best

Another brilliant podcast Darren! Definitely a taboo question. It's interesting because I feel I miss out on alot of paddling opportunities because of this subject. Sometimes I find paddling in a group effects the way I paddle because I'm focused on what others think, as apose to why I'm there to begin with and just paddling for myself. I work in Brecon and have the Usk on my doorstep but don't paddle on my own because of this very subject. Definitely not near to the grades you are talking about but I guess its all relative to what stage you're at in your paddling and your own ability. Great podcast, advise and food for thought 👍👍👍👍👍👍
